Wolter AXV / BXV axial fans, including smoke exhaust

An axial fan in a long or short casing with an IEC standard motor. Adjustable-pitch blades match the duty point precisely, and the fire-rated F300 and F400 versions serve smoke and heat exhaust systems in car parks, tunnels and buildings.

Airflow
1,000–200,000 m³/h
Pressure
up to 1,500 Pa
Temperature rating
F300 (300 °C, 60/120 min), F400 (400 °C, ≥ 120 min)
Sizes
Ø 315–1600 mm

Design

The IEC motor sits in the airstream inside a cylindrical casing. The hot-dip galvanised casing has flanges to DIN 24154 R2 and fits directly into a duct or shaft. The hub and blades are pressure-cast aluminium; plastic (PP) blades are used for some duties. The blade pitch is set at standstill and the blade count is chosen from 3, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 14, so the fan can be tuned to the design point.

Wolter has also developed carbon-fibre composite impellers for this series.

F300 and F400 smoke exhaust

The smoke exhaust versions are tested to EN 12101-3 and CE marked under Regulation (EU) 305/2011, with production supervised by the notified body MPA Braunschweig. The classes are F300 (300 °C for 60 or 120 minutes) and F400 (400 °C for at least 120 minutes). These fans are fitted with special certified motors.

In fire mode the fan runs without thermistor protection and bypasses the frequency inverter, as the manufacturer requires. The control panel design has to provide for this.

Maintenance

The manufacturer recommends inspecting:

  • general-purpose fans every 12 months;
  • F300/F400 fans that run daily every 6 months;
  • F300/F400 fans that only run in a fire every 3 months.

When to choose AXV / BXV

  • high airflow is needed at up to 1,500 Pa per stage;
  • the fan serves a car-park shaft together with jet fans and must be rated F300 or F400;
  • two- or three-speed motors are needed for several operating modes;
  • an explosion-proof or marine motor is required, for example for marine fans;
  • the fan serves a metro or tunnel ventilation system — stainless steel versions are available.

For higher pressure or two independent stages, consider the two-stage AXG.

Versions

  • AXV — the code gives impeller diameter and blade count, e.g. AXV-AL 450-7/26°
  • BXV — the code adds the hub diameter, 150 or 250 mm, e.g. BXV-PP 450-5/25°
  • F300 / F400 — smoke exhaust versions
  • Reversible supply and exhaust fans on request
  • Explosion-proof motors (the manufacturer does not publish ATEX zone data — we confirm it at selection)
  • Marine motors

Accessories

  • Inlet cone with guard
  • Outlet guard
  • Flexible connectors and counter flanges
  • Spring or rubber anti-vibration mounts, mounting feet

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum airflow of AXV?

Up to 200,000 m³/h, with up to 1,500 Pa per stage. We determine the exact duty point by selection from the airflow and system resistance.

What documentation covers the F300/F400 versions?

They are tested to EN 12101-3 and CE marked under Regulation (EU) 305/2011 with MPA Braunschweig supervision. The manufacturer does not publish certificate numbers; we confirm the document list for each item at selection.

Can AXV be used in metros and on ships?

Yes. The manufacturer lists tunnel and metro applications for AXV (including stainless steel versions) and marine use with marine motors.
