What modelling shows
- Velocity field — how jet fans shape the flow and where dead zones appear.
- Smoke spread — visibility on escape and fire-fighting access routes over time.
- Temperatures — heating of structures and air near the fire and at the fans.
- CO concentrations — effectiveness of daily ventilation and sensor-based control.
- Age of air — how quickly air is renewed at each point of the car park.
When CFD is needed
- for jet-fan smoke control design — to justify the solution;
- for complex geometry: many beams, ramps, low zones, unusual shafts;
- for optimisation — reducing fan numbers or checking reversal;
- at the request of the reviewing authority or insurer.
The report
The report covers input data and assumptions, the model and scenarios, results as fields and time histories, and conclusions against the criteria. We take part in presenting the results at design review.
What you receive
- 3D model and scenario description
- Velocity, temperature and visibility fields over time
- Analysis against safety criteria
- Recommendations on fan layout and modes
