Cold climate and car park ventilation
A jet-fan system moves large volumes of outdoor air through the car park. In frost this brings risks: over-cooled ramps and entrances, frozen pipes, condensation. In Astana it is important to:
- plan the supply air: heating, air curtains at entrances, CO-based airflow control so the car park is not ventilated more than necessary;
- use two-speed fans and pollution-based control so the system runs at minimum power in normal operation;
- check the permitted ambient temperature for fan motors and bearings — standard ranges for Wolter axial fans are in the documentation, and versions for extreme conditions are available on request.
See Ventilation in cold climates.
Roof fans
Snow and icing affect roof fans and dampers. We select roof fans for snow loads and, for smoke exhaust, versions with confirmed fire ratings.
Heat recovery in apartments
The colder the winter, the more heat is lost with exhaust air. Apartment ERVs reduce these losses, but in Astana the core needs frost protection. We check each Himpel HueVen model for the design temperature.
What we offer
Selection and design of the car park ventilation system for the climate, CFD modelling, supply of Wolter and Himpel equipment, installation supervision and commissioning with local partners.
