Market and projects

Kazakhstan is the largest construction market in Central Asia. Almaty and Astana are building business-class residential complexes with underground car parks, shopping and office centres and hotels, and Almaty is expanding its metro. For all of these, ventilation and smoke control of underground levels is a mandatory and costly part of the building services.

Jet-fan ventilation lets developers reduce car park storey heights and installation work, while owners get one system for CO ventilation and smoke control.

Codes and design review

Ventilation and smoke protection are designed to the building codes of the Republic of Kazakhstan (SN RK, SP RK) and the fire safety technical regulation. Designs go through state or non-state expert review. We prepare calculations and CFD justification in a format reviewers understand and support responses to comments.

Conformity assessment

Kazakhstan is an EAEU member, so the union’s technical regulations apply to ventilation equipment. Smoke control fans fall under TR EAEU 043/2017 on fire safety and fire-fighting equipment, which requires a certificate based on tests in an accredited EAEU laboratory. European EN 12101-3 tests provide the technical basis but do not replace the EAEU certificate on their own. General-purpose fans fall under the regulations on machinery safety, low-voltage equipment and electromagnetic compatibility.

We confirm the documents for each item at selection stage, before the contract.

Design considerations in Kazakhstan

  • Seismicity. Almaty and the south lie in high-seismicity zones: supports for fans, especially smoke control fans, must be designed for seismic loads. See seismic fan mounting.
  • Cold winters. Astana has some of the lowest design winter temperatures of any capital. This matters for roof fans, car park supply air and ERVs — see ventilation in cold climates.
  • Hot summers in the south. In Shymkent and Turkestan region, summer ambient temperature matters for fan motors.
  • Documentation language. Labels and manuals of imported equipment must be translated into Kazakh and Russian.

How we work

Jetfans engineers handle selection, calculations and CFD remotely, and on site we work with local installation partners. Equipment from Germany and Korea is delivered to the construction schedule. We are looking for dealers and installers in Kazakhstan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do smoke exhaust fans need an EAEU certificate in Kazakhstan?

Yes. Smoke control fans fall under TR EAEU 043/2017, which requires an EAEU certificate. We confirm the document status of the selected items at selection.

Do you work in Almaty and Astana?

Yes. We support projects across Kazakhstan; the Almaty, Astana and Shymkent pages cover each city’s specifics.

Can your equipment be offered in public tenders?

Yes, through partners or general contractors. We prepare the technical part, manufacturer letters and equipment documents.

Need equipment selection or a system design?

Send us the layouts or the brief — we will prepare a selection, a calculation and a quotation.
