Codes and approvals

Fire safety of garages in Slovakia is set by an Interior Ministry decree, the Fire Protection Act and fire-service guidance:

  • Decree No. 94/2004 Z. z. on technical fire-safety requirements for the construction and use of buildings (version from 1 Jan 2019) — official text: fire detection in fire compartments with garages for more than 50 vehicles (§ 88(4)); the garage space is a separate fire compartment (Annex 1)
  • Act No. 314/2001 Z. z. on fire protection (version from 1 Apr 2025) — official text: smoke and heat exhaust systems are fire-protection equipment; the contractor registers the system with the fire service before installation (§ 11d); designers and installers need authorisations (§ 11c)
  • HaZZ guidance on parking and charging electric vehicles in buildings (PHZ-OPP-2025/001880-001, 01.02.2025) — official text: recommends fire detection for garages with more than 10 spaces and, for new garages with more than 40 EV parking and charging spaces, smoke and heat exhaust and sprinklers

Slovak rules do not mention jet fans. The fire service’s guidance on designing smoke and heat exhaust leaves the choice of design rule to the system manufacturer and accepts foreign rules with a Slovak translation. STN P CEN/TS 12101-11 has been published in Slovak since October 2023.

Fire authority: Fire and Rescue Corps of Slovakia (HaZZ).

Equipment documents

Wolter smoke exhaust fans are supplied with CE marking and a Declaration of Performance (DoP) under the Construction Products Regulation (EU) No 305/2011: they are tested to EN 12101-3, and factory production control is supervised by the notified body MPA Braunschweig.

Products made outside Slovakia need a Slovak translation of the declaration of performance (Act No. 133/2013 Z. z., § 2(3)); smoke exhaust fans are product group 4003 with assessment system 1.

How we work

Jetfans engineers handle selection, calculations and CFD remotely and prepare documentation in English and Russian; on site we work with local installation partners. Equipment from Germany and Korea is delivered to the construction schedule. We are looking for distributors and installers in Slovakia.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which documents do smoke exhaust fans need in Slovakia?

CE marking and a Declaration of Performance (DoP) under Regulation (EU) No 305/2011, based on the harmonised standard EN 12101-3. Wolter fans are supplied with these documents.

Is jet-fan smoke control accepted in Slovakia?

Yes. Slovak rules do not regulate jet fans; the fire service accepts foreign design rules with a Slovak translation, and the system is registered with the fire service before installation.

Do you work in Bratislava?

Yes. We support projects across the country — in Bratislava, Košice and Prešov and other cities.

Need equipment selection or a system design?

Send us the layouts or the brief — we will prepare a selection, a calculation and a quotation.
