Himpel HueVen energy recovery ventilators
HueVen units supply filtered outdoor air and extract stale air, recovering heat and moisture through an enthalpy core. Models range from compact apartment units to commercial ventilators for 1,100 m³/h.
An energy recovery ventilator provides a constant supply of fresh air with the windows closed — something natural ventilation struggles to do in today’s airtight buildings. The supply and extract airflows pass through the core without mixing. The HueVen enthalpy core transfers moisture as well as heat: in winter the indoor air dries out less, and in summer less heat and moisture enter the rooms.
The HueVen range:
- ceiling ducted units for apartments — EBN, the compact EBSN, EF1/EF2 with a carbon filter, the compact A and the new Eco with a washable membrane core;
- cassette C1, C2, C3 — built into the ceiling of a room or hotel room;
- wall-mounted W — no ceiling ducts, for existing apartments and small offices;
- commercial EGI for 170–1,100 m³/h in a steel casing;
- floor-standing S — ventilator and air purifier for classrooms, offices and clinics.
Residential and cassette models have a pre-filter and a HEPA filter, and many series offer bypass and indoor air-purification modes. The residential series use BLDC motors.

Choosing a model
| Building | Series | Airflow, m³/h |
|---|---|---|
| Apartment with ducts above a false ceiling | EBN, EBSN, EF1/EF2, A, Eco | 70–270 |
| Single room, hotel room | cassette C1, C2, C3 | 60–150 |
| Apartment where ducts cannot be installed | wall-mounted W | 30–100 |
| Office, shop, commercial premises | EGI | 170–1,100 |
| Classroom, office, clinic — with air purification | floor-standing S | 400 and 1,100 |
Capacity comes from an air-change calculation based on room areas and uses, occupancy and code requirements. Himpel recommends the compact A for apartments up to 66 m², Eco for apartments from 66 m² and EF1/EF2 for larger apartments from 132 m².
Further ceiling models
- HueVen EF1 (HRD-EP150/200/250IBC) — 170, 220 and 270 m³/h, pre-filter, HEPA and carbon filter, bypass and air-purification modes.
- HueVen EF2 (HRD-EP100IBC, HRD-EP150IBCN) — compact version for 120 and 170 m³/h, no more than 40 dB.
- HueVen A (HRD1-50PLI_BC, HRD1-100PLI_BC) — compact 70 and 120 m³/h models in an ABS casing, pre-filter and H13 HEPA, no more than 40 dB.
Controls and sensors
Residential models use wired controllers with a timer and speed selection, connect to home networks via RS485 and can be run from the AiroT app. The Eco controller measures CO₂, particulate matter and volatile organic compounds; the floor-standing S has built-in PM2.5, PM10, CO₂, temperature and humidity sensors. The commercial EGI and S support central control.
Power supply and cold climates
The Himpel catalogue gives data for 220 V / 60 Hz. Himpel offers export versions of EBN and EBSN; we confirm 50 Hz performance for each model. For buildings with frosty winters we check the permissible outdoor temperature and whether frost protection or pre-heating of the core is needed.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which ERV suits an apartment?
For an apartment with ductwork, a ceiling unit: Himpel recommends the compact A for apartments up to 66 m², Eco from 66 m² and EF1/EF2 for larger apartments from 132 m²; EBN and EBSN cover 70–270 m³/h. We set the exact capacity by an air-change calculation.
Is there an ERV that needs no ducts?
Yes. The wall-mounted HueVen W is installed by a window or on an external wall and needs no ceiling ducts; the C3 cassette HRD3-50PLCN also works without ducts.
Do Himpel ERVs run on a 50 Hz supply?
The Himpel catalogue gives data for 220 V / 60 Hz. EBN and EBSN have export versions; we confirm the 50 Hz version and performance for each model at selection.
What filters do HueVen units use?
Residential and cassette models have a pre-filter and a HEPA filter (H13 on most series); EF1/EF2 add a carbon filter, and Eco offers H14 on request. The commercial EGI has a pre-filter and a medium filter; the floor-standing S has several pre-filters and HEPA filters.
